CAHS Alumni

The PTA values all past and present educational experiences of the CAHS alumni, and feels that it important to continuously share those experiences with the current CAHS students to keep them motivated and inspired to aim high with a "can do" attitude. We appreciate all of the help and support the CAHS alumni have given the PTA in the past. If you are willing to help support the PTA, please send us an email at cahs.pta@gmail.com. Join the CAHS Alumni Association (1978-1990) on Facebook, or start your own alumni group!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How can I have the CAHS Bulletin sent to my email?
A: Send an email request with your name, student's name, and student's graduating class year to the CAHS parent consultant: Heather McMullen at hmcmullen9999@columbus.k12.oh.us.

Q: Who can help me with a question?
A: You can contact the CAHS parent consultant: Heather McMullen (hmcmullen9999@columbus.k12.oh.us ) if you don't know who to contact at the school.
Questions specific to PTA can be addressed to the general Friends of CAHS email address and will be forwarded to the appropriate PTA member (CAHS.PTA@gmail.com).

Q: Can I belong to PTA if I can't attend meetings?
A: Yes! It is important for parents to come to the school and be personally involved in their students' education. If it isn't possible for you to attend meetings, you can look at the PTA membership form to find a way that you can help out, from baking cookies to helping with Kaleidoscope (the open house evening for prospective students).

Check out the volunteer opportunities. You can come and do things on the week-end, make phone calls, write letters, etc. We want you involved, even if you don't join PTA. We will also assist with the PTA membership fee if it is keeping you from joining PTA.

Q: How does the Friends of CAHS PTA support Columbus Alternative High School?
A: Friends of CAHS is involved in school activities throughout the year. Please click here to see a list of the responsibilities/activities of the PTA.

Q: What happens at the PTA meetings?
A: The meetings are a great opportunity to hear directly from the CAHS principal about current events and academic matters at the school. She speaks at the beginning of each PTA meeting.
We also make plans to support the school with special events, and discuss parent concerns, hear reports from the parent consultants and committee chairs. We have been focused on partnering with students so there is a strong link between students and parents.
A big role for the Friends of CAHS is also advocating for the school, to help the school meet its mission of educating each student to be prepared to be successful at college.

Q: When does the PTA meet?
A: The first Tuesday of every month, September through June, at 7pm.
The meetings run for an hour and a half. We meet in room 121 at CAHS.
